The Packers have signed free agent defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson and also acquired quarterback DeShone Kizer.

The team announced the moves a day after the opening of free agency.

Kizer was acquired in a trade with the Browns for cornerback Damarious Randall with drafts picks also involved.

Kizer is expected to serve as the backup to Aaron Rodgers. Kizer was selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2017 draft. Wilkerson was selected by the Jets in the first round of the 2011 draft. The Packers also signed cornerback Herb Waters. He was signed by Green Bay as an undrafted rookie out of Miami (Fla.) on May 6, 2016.

When the Ravens drafted quarterback Lamar Jackson, it meant backup quarterback Robert Griffin III has a steeper path ahead of him to make the roster. The Ravens would love to see Jackson play the way Griffin did before his knee injury — as long as Jackson’s success lasts longer.
