The fire, which almost totally burned down the hotel building, started at about 3:00 a.m. local time and was brought under control by firefighters after nearly four hours' fight.


The injured including a firefighter were brought to Yangon General Hospital.


A total of 90 guests including foreigners were evacuated to nearby Chatrium Hotel, an official from the fire service department told Xinhua.


The fire which started from level-5 of the building was the biggest so far, and over 300 firefighters and other rescue teams took part in the efforts to put out the fire, he added.


An investigation on the cause of the fire and rescue operations are underway.


The historic Kandawgyi Palace Hotel was built in 1979 [url=http://www.cheapmlbastrosjerseys.com/mike-scott-jersey/]Cheap Mike Scott Jersey[/url] , featuring 10 teak bungalows and it was extended in 1993.


Operated by Htoo Group of Companies, the five-star hotel was designed with local golden teak and has 195 rooms, gardens and rainforest trees.
