The Dallas Cowboys have made their first acquisition since NFL free agency opened a week ago.

Free-agent linebacker Joe Thomas has reached a two-year deal with the Cowboys http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/jim-kelly-jersey , a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday night. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been signed, and there was no announcement from the team.

Thomas started eight of his 42 games the past three seasons for the Green Bay Packers. He was also a contributor on special teams.

Undrafted out of South Carolina State Authentic Derwin James Jersey , Thomas initially signed with the Packers in 2014 and spent part of that season on their practice squad. After being a preseason roster cut by Green Bay in 2015, he then was on the practice squad in Dallas before being signed to the Packers' active roster and making his NFL debut Richard Rodgers Jersey Eagles , playing 14 games that season.

The Cowboys lost linebackers Anthony Hitchens and Kyler Wilber in free agency. Hitchens signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Wilber signed with the Oakland Raiders.

AP Pro Football Writer Schuyler Dixon contributed to this report.

A person with direct knowledge of the decision says there will not be a disciplinary hearing for Washington Capitals winger Tom Wilson for his hit to the head of Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Monday on condition of anonymity because the NHL does not announce when there is no hearing for a player.

Wilson struck Dumoulin in the head with his left shoulder 4:36 into the second period of Game 2 Sunday. No penalty was called. Dumoulin adjusted his positioning at the last second to brace for a hit from Alex Ovechkin Jihad Ward Jersey Elite , which was enough to keep Wilson from being suspended. Wilson will be available for Game 3 Tuesday at Pittsburgh.

Wilson said after the game he watched replays and didn’t know what he could have done to avoid hitting Dumoulin’s head. Dumoulin remained down on the ice for several minutes, went down the tunnel and never returned.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and teammates expected the league to take a look at Wilson’s hit on Dumoulin in part because of the Capitals winger’s track record. Wilson was suspended twice this season stemming from incidents in exhibition games.
